Heat Transfer Characteristics of Calcined Petroleum Coke in Waste Heat Recovery Process Figure 15 Variations of the heat recovery efficiency with different equivalent specific heat.
Coke is a grey, hard, and porous fuel with a high carbon content and few impurities, made by heating coal or oil in the absence of air—a destructive distillation process. It is an important industrial product, used mainly in iron ore smelting, but also as a fuel in stoves and forges when air pollution is a concern.. The unqualified term "coke" usually refers to the product derived from low
Values of the effective heat capacity for raw cokes in the course of heating are presented as are the results obtained in determinations of the effective and true heat capacities of raw coke at 293-1173/sup 0/K. Equations have been obtained to describe the temperature dependence of the heat capacity of raw and calcinated cokes in the respective intervals 293-773 and 293-1173/sup 0/K.
Abstract—The temperature of Calcined Petroleum Coke particles is as high as 1000℃,which is of great significance in waste heat recovery appliions. Water cooling type furnace bottom specified for Tank Calcination Furnace waste heat recovery system can significantly reduce heat …
necessarily be optimal for eventual calcined coke properties [1]. Petroleum cokes are produced at refineries using three different types of coking processes: delayed, hid, and flexi coking. The delayed coker is mostly used at forty-nine U.S. refineries processing [2]. The other fliud coker and flexicoker
This paper reports the results of heat transfer characteristics of calcined petroleum coke in waste heat recovery process. The model of heat exchanger was set up. The model has been used to investigate the effects of porosity (0.58 to 0.79) equivalent heat conductivity coefficient (0.9 to 1.1) and equivalent specific heat (0.9 to 1.1).
14/03/2015· The low Btu gas (LBG) flow rate is 2000 lb/h. The specific heat of carbon ¼ 0.17 Btu/lb F and the specific heat (Cp) for the gases ¼ 0.24 Btu/lb F. The net coke production in this case is 2.0 wt%. Assume 70% of the coke is consumed in the burner.6.6. 100,000 BPD of crude is introduced to the crude distillation unit (CDU).

With the objective of implementing graphite calorimetry at the BIPM to measure absorbed dose, an experimental assely has recently been constructed to measure the specific heat capacity of graphite. A status description of the apparatus and results from the first measurements are given. The outcome is discussed and the experimental uncertainty is reviewed.
The main reason is that, with the increase of porosity, the effective specific heat and the effective density decrease and the initial total heat quantity reduces, which make the temperature of calcined petroleum coke decrease at the heat exchanger outlet.
utilization of petcoke as fuel. Not only the specific heat power, but also several other physicochemical characteristics of the fuel are determinant to the process efficiency and to the product quality. Any other types of fuel can lead to alterations in the functioning of the kiln and in the characteristics of the product.
In the present paper, the heat transfer of gravity-driven dense particle flow around five different shapes of tubes is numerically studied using discrete element method (DEM). The velocity vector, particle contact nuer, particle contact time and heat transfer coefficient of particle flow at different particle zones around the tube are carefully analyzed. The results show that the effect of
primary fuel use by type has not changed dramatically during the 1990s. In comparing the averages for the first three years of the decade to the averages for the 1996–1998 period, it is evident that coal and natural gas have held their place as the dominant fuels for generating process heat in the industry. Coal 41% Electricity 11% Waste Fuels 2%
Product Description: 1.Structure of Calcined Petroleum Coke Description. Calcined Petroleum Coke is made from raw petroleum coke, which is calcined in furnace at a high temperature(1200-1300℃).CPC/Calcined Petroleum Coke is widely used in steelmaking, castings manufacture and other metallurgical industry as a kind of recarburizer because of its high fixed carbon content, low sulfur …
Abstract. In order to establish the influence of coke quality (as determined by the feedstock quality and the process conditions) upon its heat capacity, the authors investigated cokes that had been produced in commercial delayed coking units from various types of feeds - cokes that differed in structure and in contents of volatile matter and sulfur - in comparison with the same cokes after
20/12/2014· CPC is produced by heating or calcining green petroleum coke (GPC) at temperatures greater than 1200°C. The production of GPC has remained essentially the same since 1929 when the modern delayed coking process was born.
